The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported that the eruption of Kīlauea within Halemaʻumaʻu crater suddenly ceased at 10:47 AM HST yesterday as lava flows from both vents stopped being active.
Fountaining in the northern vent halted at 10:47 AM local time following a shutdown at the south vent at 10:43 AM local time.
Lava flows from this episode covered more than half of the floor of Halemaʻumaʻu within the southern part of Kaluapele (Kīlauea caldera).
The electronic tilt monitoring detected the ground to be bulged by 7 microradians during the 7th episode, more than twice recorded during episodes 5 and 6.
No changes have been recorded in the ERZ or SWRZ.
Since December 23, 2024, each episode of lava fountaining at Halemaʻumaʻu has lasted between 13 hours and 8 days, with pauses in eruptive activity ranging from less than 24 hours to 12 days between episodes.
