Lewotobi Lakilaki volcano (Flores, Indonesia): spectacular eruption

The explosive eruption at the volcano continues.

The Volcanological Institute of Indonesia (PVMBG) reported that a powerful vulcanian-style explosion appeared from the summit vent at 10:36 local time yesterday.

An abundant grey ash plume rose about 1000 meters above the peak and drifted west-southwest.

The seismic network recorded a seismic signal with a maximum amplitude of 44 mm and a duration of 372 seconds.

People are advised to avoid an area of about 3 km from the main crater, 4 km from the north-northeast sector and 5 km from the northeast sector, respectively.
