Etna volcano update: No significant changes but slowly increasing activity

No significant changes have been noted during the past days. Mild strombolian activity seems to persist at the central summit crater Voragine, as well as intense degassing and occasional ash venting from the other craters.

The volcanic tremor amplitude has been fluctuating at moderate levels but with an overall steady increase, now close to reaching high levels. Whether this might build up to a new paroxysm in the near future remains speculation.
