Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): (27 May) The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported that a new hornito formed atop the volcano recently.
INGV volcanologists, during a field trip, found 6 crater vents active – 4 in the North and 2 in the South crater area. The latest bursting lava spattering phase has been constructing a new, steep-sided cinder cone in the northern sector, also called the hornito currently (see the video).

White Island (Antarctica): (27 May) The GeoNet surveillance camera recorded another vigorous steam-gas plume dissipating above the island on 25 May at 8:10 local time. The footage from the Whakatane camera indicates that the activity has been very similar to the moderate event on 24 May.
Hence, the alert level for the volcano remains Level 3, and the Aviation Colour Code has been changed to Orange.
