Phreatic eruption from Suoh volcano on 24 May (image: PVMBG)
The PVMBG volcano observatory reported that three phreatic explosions occurred at the volcano between 8:00 and 9:00 local time on 24 May.
Phreatic activity is represented as interaction with snow and/or ice, i.e. steam driven only, caused by overheated water flashing to steam
The last phreatic eruptions at the volcano are dated in 1933 and 1994.
