A new lava lake started to occupy at the summit crater of the volcano over the past two days.

The latest Sentinel-2 image of the volcano revealed a strong thermal anomaly, indicating new lava overflows from the crater vent. A spreading, circular area of lava now covers the previous solidified crust of the lava lake, forming thin, semi-plastic layers on the lake surface due to convection of the underlying lava.
