Purace volcano (Colombia): new eruptive phase likely, webcam images need to be confirmed yet

The Servicio Geológico Colombiano (SGC) issued a report that seismic recordings started to detect a new seismic signal at the volcano since 07:29 PM local time yesterday.

The increased activity is likely related to the release of gas, steam and possibly some amount of ash emissions from the main crater. Visibility of the eruptive phase has been limited due to night observations. Therefore, webcameras installed in the upper part of the edifice were not capable to detect the height of the ash plume last night. However, it is highly presumably that the volcano continues to emit gas, steam and likely ash emissions.
Despite the increased activity, the alert level for the volcano remains Yellow so far.
