Stromboli volcano (Eolian Islands, Italy): spattering dropped, lava flow became inactive

Moderate strombolian eruptions continue from summit vents at Stromboli volcano (image: INGV)

The activity at the volcano has been gradually waning throughout yesterday’s afternoon, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) issued.

The strong spattering from the North crater vent reduced and stopped feeding the lava flow. The lava continues to cool down, so-called crystallization process.

Weak-to-moderate strombolian explosions take place from summit vents and remain unchanged.

The volcanic tremor oscillates between medium and high values.
