On August 21, there were two explosive eruptions at Ubinas, each triggered a volcanic alert and produced eruptive columns of ash and gas over 3,500 m above the volcano summit. The eruptions occurred at 1:41 and 9.18 local time.
Ash has dispersed to the north, northeast, west and northwest with a radius of up to 50 km.
The volcano remains in orange alert, the second highest of the four-colour scale (which was triggered on July 2) with a 4 km exclusion zone.
At present, there has been no calls for evacuation. The public are reminded to ensure water supply is secure to avoid mixing with volcanic ash and to wear masks to avoid ash inhalation.
