Seismic recordings detected a seismic crisis at Reykjanes Peninsula that started yesterday.
Nearly 1800 earthquakes in total have been registered by the Icelandic Meteorological Office since the earthquakes swarm commenced, of which four were recorded with magnitude of more than 4 (M 4.6 at 08:21 this morning), typical sign of magma pushing its way towards the surface through dyke injection/s. The precise location of dyke is not located yet, but the recent model calculations indicate a batch of magma at depth of about 15 km beneath the surface.
Another investigations hint magma location at Svartsengi, the eruption site in 2020 and 2022.
