The strong eruptive episode (likely to be classified as paroxysm) is now in progress at the volcano’s cinder cone.

At approx. 04:24 local time, strong lava jets could be seen in the PVMBG webcam, the height of fountains likely surpassed several hundreds of meters. The eruption was associated with continuous dense grey ash emissions that reached 2,2 km altitude and drifted northwest.

The seismic network reported a seismic signal with a maximum amplitude of 60 mm and a duration of 240 seconds.

The warning bulletin states a 5 km exclusion zone around the main crater in place.
