
The effusive eruption within the Halemaʻumaʻu crater waned.
The fountaining activity in the southwestern area of the crater floor has reduced to only a few small lava fountains.
The lava flow expansion has retreated further, the main activity is being focused in the southwestern and central regions of the crater floor.
The active lava lake is fed by a continuous surge of lava from the northeast eruptive vent. This feature is the „western“ lake from prior eruptions that have been reactivated along with a smaller circular pool just southeast of the lake. The western lava lake level has not risen since yesterday.
The spatter cone (also called a hornito) in the SW crater continues to spatter fresh, juvenile and plastic lava clots and lava flows directly into the westernmost part of the Halemaʻumaʻu crater.
The ongoing deflation at the summit of the volcano reverted to mild inflation in early afternoon yesterday.
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 7400 tonnes on 11 June.
