The inflation at the volcano is continuing since late September 2021, the Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) reported.

Both GPS and InSAR deformation measurements reveal that the ground at the OLAC (Öskjuvatn) GPS station has been uplifted by 60 cm since August 2021. Deformation indicators estimate the depth of about 2.5-2.9 km beneath the caldera floor.

The seismic activity at the volcano remains stable since late August 2021 until now with approx. 20-60 earthquakes (>M 0.5) in average, ranging from M 2 to M 3.1.
