The strong eruptive phase at the volcano has continued during the past several weeks.
The activity is dominated by larger-than-usual vulcanian-type explosions, throwing a large amount of incandescent lava fragments from the summit crater onto the variously oriented slopes. The broad area of the edifice is being constantly brightened by these lapilli-to-bomb-sized tephra fragments as some of the lava bombs, visible in the webcam screenshot, fall outside the frame border, meaning that they reached distances greater than 2 km.

Cerro Bravo (Colombia): (18 May) Gas and steam emissions have been detected in the area of La Virgen sector, in a 20-meter-long segment on the Bogotá-Manizales highway, from Fresno to Manizales between the departments of Tolima and Caldas, on 16 May.
The Colombian Geological Institute (Servicio Geológico Colombiano), in collaboration with the Caldas Risk Management Office, Corpocaldas, Transportadora de Gas Internacional and Invías, has made investigations and measurements to determine the origin of emissions (biological and/or bacterial) along with chromatography studies. In addition, an inspection is being carried out if there are more potential gas-leaking cracks.
