Suwanose-jima (Ryukyu Islands): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ERUPTED AT 20230513/1019Z OVER FL060 EXTD N OBS VA DTG:13/1020Z

Krakatau (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): The intense activity at the volcano continues as it entered the strong eruptive episode a couple of days ago.
After little more than 12 hours since the last paroxysm, another such episode of vigorous lava fountaining from the volcano’s cinder cone occurred late yesterday.

Surveillance cameras of the PVMBG volcano institute observed at 11:20 PM local time yesterday erupting incandescent lava jets up to perhaps a few 100 m height associated with dense ash emissions. Pyroclastic material in the form of hot, juvenile and plastic ejecta landed onto the southern flanks of the volcano (the only available camera view from the south), but given the eruption size, it seems to shower the edifice in various directions.
Later on, at about 07:11 local time next morning, an intense explosion generated a perpendicularly rising grey-to-black ash-abundant column to estimated 2,2 km height drifting southwest.
