The extrusive eruption at the volcano continues.
Visual observations from our local friend and volcanologist Yuri Demyanchuk confirm the continuous rise of viscous magma into the growing lava dome. Accumulating magma makes the lava dome partially unstable, which develops into glowing lava blocks and debris avalanches. From time to time, ash plumes separate from block-and-ash flows (so-called phoenix clouds) as it descends the slope.
