Chikurachki (Paramushir Island): A series of new explosive eruptions began at the volcano yesterday, the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) in Tokyo reported.
Explosions sent ash plumes to 2700 m altitude yesterday that drifted towards the southeast and to 4300 m elevation today.

Cotopaxi (Ecuador): The explosive eruption at the volcano continues.
Friends of ours, currently visiting Ecuador, just sent us an image of „only“ venting (so-called degassing) of gas and steam emissions from the summit crater. Fresh tephra deposits may be seen on the western flank resulting from the continuous eruptions.
According to the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington, ash column heights have ranged between 6,4 and 6,7 km altitude over the past few days and drifted in the south and south-west direction.
