Glowing lava bombs shower the summit area after the explosion (image: Diego Rizzo Photo)
Vulcanian and strombolian activity continues from the summit crater and remains essentially unchanged.
The volcano continues to erupt near-continuous weak-to-moderate, sometimes ash-rich explosions at regular intervals of 5 to 8 per hour.
Ash plume heights varied between 14,700 ft-15,400 ft (4,500 m-4,700 m) altitude and extended to the west and southwest of the volcano.
Much of the ejected incandescent material is being ejected to a few hundreds meters above the crater, causing weak to moderate glowing avalanches towards Ceniza and Santa Teresa and Honda chutes.
