Yake-dake volcano (Honshu, Japan): seismic swarm continues, alert status raised to Level 2

On 24 May, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised the alert level for the volcano to Level 2, as a swarm of small earthquakes has occurred at shallow levels.

Quakes have continued to pick up in numbers starting at 23:00 local time on 23 May and going on for now.

In addition, instruments detected a slight inflation in the summit area.
