Sangay volcano (Ecuador): ongoing lava flow and ash emissions

The effusive-explosive eruption of the volcano continues.

The lava flow on the north flank continues to be active.

Near-constant vulcanian-type explosions take place from the summit vent sending ash columns to estimated 6,1 km altitude. Volcanic ash is dispersed mostly towards the south and southwest.

FIRMS and MIROVA systems detected highly elevated surface temperatures (100 MW).

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 370 tonnes/day by MOUNTS system detected on 14 March.
