The activity at the volcano has been intensifying since 14 February as an increasing trend is also shown in the rise of seismic amplitude detected by the local volcano observatory.
Strombolian activity has continued to pick up both in numbers and intensity. Frequent weak-to-moderate explosions occurred from the summit vent, but from time to time produced intermittent, relatively strong explosions. An elevated frequency of eruptions has been detected at the volcano at intervals of 8 to 14 per hour which is more than usual values.
