"Earthy" emissions at Telica volcano today (image: INETER)
Several explosions have been observed at the volcano by the INETER’s surveillance cameras during the past few days.
The activity at the crater has been mostly small-to-moderate which created ash plumes reaching 5,000 ft (1,500 m) altitude.
The color of ash emissions was mostly brown (as can be seen in the webcam image), described as „earthy“. This could mean that most of the ejected material might be from solidified older lava rocks in the summit crater.
The eruptive activity occurs from time to time every months or so.
