A satellite’s MODIS image from 21 December reveals an amount of floating pumice after the major eruption few days ago.
The pumice raft, spreading to the southwest of the volcano, has covered an area of estimated to be 50 square kilometers.
A strong (degassing) steam and gas plume continues to dissipate rapidly indicating ongoing phreatomagmatic activity.
