The strong fumarolic activity continues at the volcano accompanied by series of phreatomagmatic explosions (see previous post).
The local observatory PHIVOLCS recorded 22628 tonnes/day! of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions yesterday, the highest level recorded in Taal volcano ever.
The seismic instrument detected 26 strong low-frequency (LF) earthquakes as volcanic gases reaching the shallow hydrothermal system that feeds into the lake accompanied by degassing. The earthquakes were felt at the northeastern shorelines of Volcano Island.
