Strombolian-type explosions at the volcano continue and are accompanied by still continuing bush fires.
Fires started to illuminate on 28 July a few minutes after midnight as incandescent material reached local vegetation at the summit area. A constant smoke glow is well visible at night as seen in the attached video.
PVMBG reported about yesterday’s volcano eruption at 07:47 local time. An ash plume rose 2,624 ft (800 m) above the summit and drifted W-NW.
Near-constant emissions of water vapor, gases (degassing) and ash continue from the summit vent.
The seismic station detected 39 volcano-tectonic earthquakes today.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows and lahars could affect an area of about 3 km distance from the main crater.
