Piton de la Fournaise volcano (La Réunion, France): lava flow eruption continues

Cinder cones continue to grow around the two main vents of the eruptive fissure (image: OVPF)

No significant change in the activity has occurred since the last update.

The effusive eruption of the volcano continues at fluctuating intensity of volcanic tremor.
The eruptive fissure continues to build the steep-sided cinder cones around the two main vents. The advancing lava flow on the southern slope remains active.
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions continue at elevated levels since 11 April.
