Summit glow at Mayon volcano on 6 January (image: PHIVOLCS)
Surveillance cameras of the volcanological observatory PHIVOLCS observed a near-constant glow at the volcano visible from the summit crater during the nights on 6, 18 and 20 January visible in the attached images. This might suggests rise of magma inside the volcano’s conduits.
The activity of the volcano is associated with moderate emissions of water vapor dispersed towards the west direction.
On 29 December, sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 676 tonnes/day.
Instruments detected slight ground deformation of the edifice during 28 Nov-3 Dec 2020 and continues to inflate.
