
Powerful vulcanian-type explosion from Popocatépetl volcano yesterday (image: CENAPRED)
The activity of the volcano continues at elevated levels characterized by constant ash emissions over the past two weeks.
A powerful vulcanic explosion occurred at 08:08 local time yesterday. Stronger than the average size of explosions at the volcano produced large ash content and extended to the east-northeast of the volcano towards the Puebla and Tlaxcala towns.
The seismic network detected 448 minutes of volcanic tremor and 2 volcano-tectonic earthquakes.
