The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that one explosion occured at the Minamidake summit crater on 27 March. Blocks were ejected as far as 2,624 ft-3,608 ft (800 m-1,100 m) away from Minamidake summit crater. Ash plumes reached 5,905 ft (1,800 m) altitude.
