A submarine eruption was spotted on Monday, with a steam plume rising up to 5km (17,000ft) above the water surface. The Aviation Colour Code was raised to Orange by the Tonga Met Service. No other signs of the eruption have manifested on the surface so far, but the previous eruption in 1995 was explosive.
