Update: Speak Up for Possibly Entombed Cat!

Update (March 25, 2026): An eyewitness has informed PETA that management has installed screens that Marilyn can push through to escape. Our caseworkers will continue to monitor the situation. Thank you for speaking up for animals like Marilyn!

A cat named Marilyn has reportedly been entombed in the ceiling of an apartment overhang in Houston, Texas after maintenance workers patched and sealed a series of openings through which she may have entered. PETA has repeatedly reached out to property management, urging them to open the area and let the cat out, but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Marilyn has allegedly been without food or water since Friday.

Speak Up for Possibly Entombed Cat!

A cat named Marilyn has reportedly been entombed in the ceiling of an apartment overhang in Houston, Texas after maintenance workers patched and sealed a series of openings through which she may have entered. PETA has repeatedly reached out to property management, urging them to open the area and let the cat out, but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Marilyn has allegedly been without food or water since Friday.

This cat needs your voice. Please contact the management agency below, and politely urge them to create an “exit strategy” for Marilyn, perhaps by installing a one-way escape door so that she cannot re-enter once she leaves.
