‘I Want TOFU’ Shirts? Gelt for Dogs? It’s PETA’s Holiday Gift Shop!
From the group that brought you “Wet Dog” scented candles and “I Told You I Wouldn’t Be Caught Dead in Leather” coffin decals, PETA’s fun, offbeat, and 100% animal-friendly Holiday Gift Shop is better than ever! There’s a cheeky “ugly Christmas sweater” that proclaims, “I Want TOFU on the Holiday Table”; a Holiday Hamper packed with vegan Pepper Fig Salami, Cavi-art, and other goodies for a vegan charcuterie board; and other unique gifts galore for everyone on your list.
Here are just some of PETA’s new unique gifts:
- Dogs can have a very happy Hanukkah with PETA’s gelt dog treats—there’s more than enough for all eight nights! And keep the party going all winter long with gourmet Northern Lights dog biscuits, made with activated coconut charcoal.
- PETA has humans covered, too, with vegan goodies like the Moo Free Advent Calendar, filled with a different delicious dairy-free chocolate behind every door. And for those who like a little spike in their sweets, there are Champagne Strawberry Truffles—a festive way to say “Cheers!” to the holidays.
- Shopping for kitty? Make her the queen of the club with the DJ Cat Scratcher—purrfect for keeping her claws in tip-top condition. Or get her guardian a copy of PETA President Ingrid Newkirk’s new book, 250 Vital Things Your Cat Wants You to Know, a must-have guide for understanding “Catese” and creating a cat-friendly home.
- Know someone crafty? Give them a Sheep Crochet Kit so that they can create their very own plush pal out of yarn that’s wool-free—so it’s kind to real-life sheep, too, who often get badly cut during shearing.
- Is PETA selling “pigs in a blanket”? Yes, our fluffy throw lets nappers cuddle up to their very own Babe. And if a creature is stirring on Christmas Eve, it might just be the one on PETA’s cute mouse pillowcase, keeping sleepers company on long winter nights.
- Some quirky gifts of Christmases past are still available, too, including our handy “Caution: Cat Vomit” signs and the Truly Tasteful Tofu Collection, featuring an air freshener and a candle that smell just like tofu—meaning unscented!—so get them while they last.
“Whether you’re shopping for a vegan gourmand or playing Santa for your dog, PETA’s catalog is a one-stop shop for all your humane holiday needs,” says PETA Senior Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “Best of all, buying one of these unique gifts helps support PETA’s lifesaving work for animals, so you’re making the season merrier for everyone.”’

PETA Mourns Passing of Longtime Primate Advocate Dr. Shirley McGreal
PETA is mourning the passing of Dr. Shirley McGreal — founder of the International Primate Protection League (IPPL) and a fierce, longtime advocate for monkeys used in experiments. In 2020, she joined with PETA and a coalition of scientists, medical doctors, primatologists, and other experts in condemning National Institutes of Health (NIH) experimenter Elisabeth Murray’s painful and deadly behavioral experiments on rhesus macaques. In these tests, sensitive monkeys are inflicted with permanent brain damage and then terrified with fake but realistic-looking snakes and spiders.
“The thought of [rhesus macaques] living in tiny cages or [being held in] restraint chairs and undergoing multiple brain surgeries gives me nightmares. And to think this has been going on for decades at taxpayers’ expense! … I am also shocked that any veterinarian would participate in these cruel experiments.”
—Dr. Shirley McGreal
McGreal founded the IPPL in 1973 after living in Thailand and seeing caged primates destined to be sent to laboratories overseas or sold domestically as “pets.” A powerhouse for animals, she exposed primate smuggling operations, and her many years of advocacy helped secure bans on primate exportation in Bangladesh, India, and Thailand. Among other honors, she received the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance. She even helped PETA with its first-ever case in 1981: the Silver Spring monkeys.
Honor Dr. Shirley McGreal’s Legacy: Help Shut Down the Monkey Experiments She Condemned
Tell NIH that you won’t tolerate having your tax dollars pay for the torment of monkeys in Elisabeth Murray’s laboratory.

PETA Statement: Monkeys Die on Flight to Prison-Like Company
Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo in response to reports that monkeys destined for a laboratory owned by Envigo died aboard a Wamos Air flight that landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston last week:
PETA is asking the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to revoke Wamos Air’s license to transport monkeys. As many as 720 monkeys in Cambodia were crammed into small boxes for a 24-hour flight, just so that mega-greedy, unethical animal tester Envigo—recently in deep trouble for the deaths of 350 puppies at its facility in Virginia—can harm and kill them in pointless tests or sell them to other laboratories to be experimented on and killed. PETA recently released video footage from an undercover video investigation into Envigo’s massive beagle-breeding operation in Virginia, where 5,000 dogs are intensively confined so that their puppies can be sold to laboratories. The USDA is currently investigating the deaths, the lack of veterinary care, and other issues documented at the facility. Neither Envigo nor Wamos can be trusted to handle animals properly, and they shouldn’t be allowed to get their profit-seeking hands on them.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.

Hooray for Cat TV! Oil Spill Survivors Brandi and Bubbles Thank Kind Donors
It’s pawsitively true: Many cats enjoy watching TV, too! Just see how much fun this cat is having while pawing at a TV screen:
So when PETA received three TVs for our Norfolk, Virginia, headquarters, we pounced at the opportunity to set up a TV for office cats Brandi and Bubbles, who were rescued from the BP oil spill.
With a major donation from Samsung North America—which included two brand-new TVs (a 65-inch one and a 75-inch model)—and another donation from a PETA employee, our Sam Simon Center headquarters got a full-screen makeover.
Now, Brandi and Bubbles are taking their lunch breaks while watching videos of wildlife and Formula One racing!
We set up one of Samsung’s gifts in our Norfolk office lobby, where guests can now watch PETA’s trailblazing work—from heart-warming animal rescues to jaw-dropping investigations—on our YouTube channel.
And as for the 75-inch Samsung TV—we’ve handed it off to the highest bidder in our epic silent auction virtual event, which helps us continue our work to help our fellow animals.
Brandi, Bubbles, and Everyone Else at PETA Say, ‘Thank You!’
Thanks to kind donors, Brandi and Bubbles are having a blast watching their favorite clips. If you want to learn more about keeping a companion cat entertained, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk covers that—and much more—in her new book, 250 Vital Things Your Cat Wants You to Know.
