Etna (Sicily, Italy): Explosive activity continues. The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Toulouse warned of a volcanic ash plume rising to an estimated 15000 ft (4600 m), or flight level 150, and moving at 10 kts in S direction.

Ibu (Halmahera, Indonesia): A ground report indicated a volcanic ash eruption at Ibu at 08:13 UTC on September 5. As of 09:40 UTC, ash emissions were estimated and moving northwest, but ash was not identifiable on satellite imagery due to meteorological clouds.

Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): (5 Sep) A volcanic ash advisory was issued for Sinabung. Ash was previously observed up to FL140 moving east at 04:30 UTC on September 5, 2026, but recent satellite data does not identify any ash cloud and the advisory has been terminated.

Lewotolo (Lesser Sunda Islands): (5 Sep) Explosive activity continues. The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned of a volcanic ash plume rising to an estimated 6000 ft (1800 m), or flight level 060.

Krakatau (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): The recent strong paroxysm episode at the volcano was also captured from space.

The Sentinel-2 satellite detected the tall ash plume and large amounts of floating pumice stones.

A major eruptive episode has occurred (or is still occurring) at the volcano. Local residents from nearby coastal areas reported powerful explosions and tall lava fountains, eruption lightning visible from afar and a dense column of ash. This paroxysm likely marks the strongest activity since the eruption that led to the collapse of the previous cone of Anak Krakatau in Dec 2018.
The VAAC center in Darwin estimates an ash plume height of 50,000 ft (15 km).
