As UniverSoul Circus sets up shop in Roy Wilkins Park on Saturday, members of PETA and Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION) will cause a ruckus by alerting would-be ticket buyers to the circus’s documented history of wounded animals and escapes—and urging them to stay away.

Where: Roy Wilkins Park, at the intersection of Merrick Boulevard and 119th Avenue, Queens
“UniverSoul could easily stick to showcasing talented humans, but instead it’s carting animals across the country and bullying them into performing stupid tricks,” says PETA Foundation Associate Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Debbie Metzler. “PETA is asking kind New Yorkers to stay away from this cruel circus.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
